Hvar’s Stari Grad Plain –on paper, the Stari Grad Plain seems pretty standard, run of the mill. But it’s rich history and incredible details are why we consider this a must-see in Croatia. Grad Plain was first created by the Greeks more than two millenia ago! It’s hundreds of acres of farmland that has been laid out and planned with incredible detail. Each plot is meticulously framed by rock walls, and it even has an advanced water system, not to mention the incredible crops that are still grown in the fields to this day.
The Old City of Dubrovnik –Dubrovnik has gained immense popularity in the last decade due to its influence on pop culture. With several famous titles filmed here, people have been drawn to its unique and beautiful setting. It’s a well-preserved fortress, complete with walls, hidden nooks and crannies and cobblestone streets. Everywhere you look, there is something to experience and explore.
The City of Split, Including Diocletian’s Palace –There are so many things that cause Split to be on this list, perhaps most importantly that it is often called the most beautiful city in the world. The Palace grounds are so well preserved, visitors hardly believe how old it actually is (nearly two millennia!), plus locals still live and work within its walls. Adding to its intrigue, the main city itself (Split) is well planned and maintained, with near-perfect architecture and construction, and the neighborhood Riva is picture-perfect with its cafes, boardwalk, and shops.
Plitvice Lakes National Park – Any time spent in this region will feel like a dream. The region is made up of 16 interconnected lakes and 90 waterfalls, as well as many footpaths and bridges for exploring. This park is lush and incredibly beautiful, often called one of the most beautiful and tranquil places on the planet.
